A stationary bike is a great for cardiovascular training tool. Especially when it’s cold and rainy outdoors and you want your daily dose of exercise. It will tone your legs and butt but they will never get large. An exercise bike will burn calories, increase circulation and endurance and generally improve your health.
Like any exercise, You only get out of it what you put in, for example 15 min a day wont do much. You need to spend at least 45-60 min or more on it.
Start out with and easy 10 min warm up and then pedal at 70-90 rpm’s with just enough resistance to get your heart rate to 70-85% of max. That is the fat burning zone and easy to do.
Best Exercise Bike To Lose Weight
A heart rate monitor will help out a lot and tell you how hard to ride. However, using an exercise bike will not build muscle. Cardiovascular exercise can help the heart and the overall health of a person, but its effect on weight loss is actually limited for many people. If you are exercising without dieting, you probably will not notice a significant change.
Cardiovascular exercise, such as an exercise bike can provide, is actually far more effective in weight management than weight loss. An exercise bike, even at full resistance, is not likely to shape your abdominal areas.
So if you are looking to lose weight and raise your metabolic rate, I’d recommend you to try resistance training exercises, such as weights, machines or even push ups in addition to aerobic exercises.
Cardio Vascular Fitness With Indoor Bike
Cycling is an exercise that develops cardio vascular fitness and helps burn calories. How well you do with it depends on the duration and intensity of your workouts. I use a bike on a trainer, aiming to do at least 5 sessions per week, with duration from 45 to 90 minutes
For most of the time I use a heart rate monitor to adapt intensity, aiming at an average heart rate about 75-80% of my maximum. In a good session I will burn over 1000 calories. Cycling works mostly the leg muscles, so if you want to work core and upper body muscles you will need to do other types of exercise.
Adjust Intensity Of The Workout To Exercise Bike
Your exercise should be fast paced and with short rest periods. For getting strong muscles and gaining leg mass, It’s the intensity of the workout which is the key, not the short duration. All cycling will strengthen your leg muscles. Not sure what a tonus is, and I have no use for bodybuilding either, but all the female cyclists and triathletes I know have pretty nice looking legs.
But in regard to calorie consumption, taking moderate speed, the person riding the bike for the longest time will lose the most weight.
Recumbent Exercise Bike Reviews
It’s proven that quick high intensity 15-20 minute workouts are the most effective ways to burn fat from a workout. As long as you work hard enough to find yourself breathless and do it for long enough per day (at least 30 mins a day) you can lose weight. If you sit there and pedal in front of the TV then no you won’t lose weight.
What these exercise programs do is elevate your metabolism very rapidly to its peak levels and pushes it for about 15 minutes. the results have been shown to be as or more effective than exercising for over an hour a day!
Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike with Pulse Best Seller
The bike will provide you with:
- Leg Stabilizers: Extended leg stabilizers to prevent any movement or tipping when exercising.
- Tension Resistance: An 8 level Magnetic Tension control system, allows the user to adjust the tension level for an easier or more difficult workout.
- There are five tension adjustments on the bike to provide more or less tension to the exercise program.
- Crank System: Three-piece “high torque” cranking system provides a smooth and consistent pedaling motion.
- The bike folds to minimize storage footprint.
The craftsmanship of the exercise bike is very good, the frame tubes are heavy steel with good welds. The bike is very quiet and comfortable with plenty of leg room for proper body mechanics as well, the computer screen readout is practical and easy to see and use.
The bike is very sturdy and stable when you’re cycling. Still it is quiet, pedaling action is smooth at all levels of resistance. I am in average physical condition, and the bike provides more than enough resistance at level 4 to 6 for a good workout.
Best Recumbent Exercise Bike Workout for Fat Loss
I have had the bike for roughly 3 months and have logged roughly 850 miles. Very little noise, smooth pedaling, stationary (doesn’t wobble), and easy to bring out/put away.
It has HRM/Calorie Counter on any exercise equipment that didn’t cost you an arm and a leg. The mileage and speed seem to be fairly accurate. Overall, it’s what you would (or should) expect from a relatively inexpensive piece of exercise equipment. Today I hooked up my Iphone and played my music and the speakers are great.
Fitness Indoor Cycling Bike The seat
The seat is wide and covered well. The magnetic pedal action is smooth like a gym quality unit. It’s very consistent and that helps getting a good rhythm while exercising. All the components are thick and sturdy. I’m not worried about durability because it is well built (and I’m not using it for a spinning class type work out).
Best Exercise Bikes Price
For a bike with easy assembly, good operation, and this price, it’s easily worth a purchase.
It does go from whisper-quiet to mouse-in-church quiet, but, honestly, you would have to be searching for a problem to even notice. It handles my weight effortlessly. It should cost much more than it does.
The bike is made with the quality in mind and will last for a very long time. I wanted a bike that I could read on while exercising and this one is very steady. I can read my Kindle as I exercise because the bike does not move. It is steady as a rock.

Build Quality and Construction
The bike seems very sturdy, and the materials are high quality as far as I can tell. There are some plastic parts, but what doesn’t have a few plastic parts these days? All of the important parts that make the bike run (flywheel, seat post, pedals, frame) are of high quality materials.
The bike offers 25 levels of resistance, and the magnetic flywheel changes resistance so smoothly you barely notice it. The programs, and resistance settings are excellent. I have no critiques. The bike is quiet.
The display is fairly basic, but gives the information needed. There are two displays, one can show you statistics while the other has bars to show the course or program you are doing. I most like the dual displays; very well done. I like the heart monitor feature, however, in every one of my workouts.
Best Upright Exercise Bike Settings
There are several programs available, including ones that adjust to keep your heart rate steady.
Once you select a program, you can choose a goal of calories, distance, or time.
You can also set up user profiles. The profiles let it calculate your calories, etc. more carefully.
Best Upright Exercise Bike Seats and pedals
The bike has several convenient features. It has nice extra-large pedals (they don’t have the problems mentioned in the other Schwinn model reviews). The seat is easily adjusted and comfortable. The seat-post height adjustment is secured by a screw in bolt.
The bike is very pleasant to look at. The matte black finish really looks high quality, and the red accents are a nice touch. My wife isn’t even ashamed to have it in our living room, which can’t be said for most fitness equipment!
Upright Exercise Bike Sounding
The bike is really quiet. One time, my wife didn’t realize I had started pedaling because she couldn’t hear anything from across the room watching TV. The console does make loud beeping sounds when you push the buttons, or when you achieve a new record for distance/calories, but you can turn those off if you don’t want it to make noise.
Bottom line: The Schwinn 170 is an excellent quality, excellent value, highly versatile and appears to be quite durable, only time will tell, exercise bike. Finding the right exercise bike was an overwhelming prospect for me so I made this honest review to help you choose right indoor bike for your needs, space and habits.
