A Cardio workout is the best way to lose weight because you’re burning calories. You can’t lose weight by just exercising. You could be running 4 miles a day and not lose any weight if you don’t eat right. Good luck, I’m sure you will do great.
Everyday use your treadmill for exactly 45 minutes. By two months from now you should have lost at least 35 pounds.
Benefits to Treadmill Running Vs. Road Running: Physical Side
The treadmill surface is springy and that bounces you back when you land on it (but also reduces the stress on your body) where roads aren’t so springy so are harder, For example, cross country is much harder, you feel no natural spring when you sink in a puddle.
There are actually more differences than you would imagine from road running and treadmill running. One of the big ones is that the treadmill is flat, roads go up and down. The other one is wind resistance, this counts for a large difference.
Treadmill Running Vs. Road Running: Psychological Side
That’s the physical side. The psychological side of course is that it can be boring. Treadmills could seem boring and there is no push to keep you going. On a road you can spot things in the distance and think “I’ll just run to there” or see a runner to catch up in the distance – more things to concentrate on.
Big advantage to treadmill is you are always set to go. No rain, cold weather, snow etc. On the flip side different weather makes every outside run different. You can set the exact work out that you want on the treadmill (such as hills, speed, distance and time).
I Am Favoring Treadmill For (Better Than Road Running):
– You can repeat the workout exactly week to week.
– You can run at any time for the day or night.
– You can run in any weather (for example when the paths are icy)
– Treadmill users tend to go to the gym and so can use other cardiovascular training machines such as cycles, rowers, etc.
– Treadmill users tend to get relaxing part of exercise in a pool or sauna to relax in afterwards
– You can set the exact work “time/distance” that you want – say a 2 mile run or 20 minute run.
– The “treadmill path” is slightly sprung and easier on your joints.
– Treadmill is inside and warm.
– You can watch the TV on a treadmill making better use of your time.
– You don’t have to stop for heavy traffic, road crossing etc.
Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill
It has six run presets that are just right and adjustable. What I love is that you can slow down and the treadmill will allow it for a “segment” (about 60 seconds), but then start back up on the original run settings for you after the segment without hitting anything.
At the gym, the treadmills stay at the new “lower” setting during the whole workout, thinking that you bit off more than you can chew.
It is QUIET. I had it on 8.0 mph and m/ y dishwasher is louder.
Inclining the treadmill is as easy as lowering the back.
It has a Thumb Heart Rate Monitor, which is good for those who want to know.
MOTORIZED treadmills solve the motivation problem and THIS has a relatively quiet, relatively smooth motor. It moves up in 1/10 mil of an hour increments, so I don’t go from 1 mph directly to two.
Here are some highlights that I personally like:
It has a basic digital read that flips through calories burned, time elapsed, distance, and mph as you run. No other crazy info I never used at gym.
This is a perfectly good compact motorized fold up treadmill, which works just fine.
It is a low-to-mid priced folding but not compact, MOTORIZED treadmill, in small size for small narrow space.
For a regular user, in a small apartment, this is GREAT
- You can jog – it is not just for walking. It’s well-sturdy enough for jogging.
- Freehand walking and jogging. You do NOT have to ‘hold onto the bars’ unless you have a sense of unsteadiness.
3 – I get the benefits of the arm-swinging balancing – that was a deal breaker for me with treadmills.
4 – QUIET Motor is a big plus. I expected and worried it would sound like a lawnmower. In a studio apartment with neighbors all over.
5 – It’s not silent but it’s really quiet. I don’t have to raise the TV volume (which I keep relatively low), Go with the motor treadmill if you are not an athlete and have no willpower.
How This Treadmill Fit Into Tight Space
It is the dimensions they state, but in real life, that is bigger than it looks. That said, fits in my apartment reasonably. It’s not compact.
Plus if I store it under the bed, it will build itself a forever-home there, and I want to USE it. For things besides ‘Just a handy clothing rack’.
This is small but it IS heavy (for stability) so don’t expect ‘small equals portable’ in terms of weight, but it is for Walking, freehand, Jogging, it has a long enough bed for a reasonable stride, you can use the dashboard thing for reading- it holds a book magazine or table.
I’m really impressed at how much BETTER than described, this is. I cannot speak to long term wear, but so far, it’s quite, it is sturdy, and it is small enough but also BIG.
It is surprisingly QUIET, and it works freehand for a balanced stride very well.
How Speed Increments Work On Treadmill?
I love that I can adjust the speed increments from say, 1 MPH to 1.2 or 1.3 or 1.5, etc. without having to jump to 2 MPH or 3 MPH, etc. up to 10 MPH.
I was surprised because of its weight/bulk so after I set it up in my dining room & didn’t care for the look (also couldn’t see the TV from there)
I decided to test the fold up & move it capability and it worked just great. Now it’s in the living room where I can watch TV while I walk off some pounds.
You can buy it here from Amazon at amazing price.
ProForm 505 CST Treadmill
This quality treadmill features 18 built-in workout apps and a quality sound system that’s iPod-compatible. The 6-inch display screen is back lit and shows you how far you’ve walked, how many calories you’ve burned, and your heart rate.
Treadmill is designed to get you moving. It’s a nice treadmill for my budget.
Cardio Workout: Losing Weight on the Treadmill?
The BEST way to lose weight is a run/walk or a walk jog. It helps a lot more than just constant running. Walk for 1 minute and jog (or run) for 2. Then walk for 1 minute and jog for 2. Continue doing that for about 45 minutes about 4 times a week.
A Cardio workout is the best way to lose weight because you’re burning calories. You can’t lose weight by just exercising.
Everyday use your treadmill for exactly 45 minutes. By two months from now you should have lost at least 35 pounds. Also, I would recommend jogging.
The interval training program will change settings periodically so the intensity of the workout will increase for a period then decrease for period. At the higher points, the workout may become harder then it goes down to an easier level.
The point of this is, that at the higher points you can go at a slower pace because the focus on creating more resistance so you can build and tone muscle, then at the low point you can increase pace and the focus becomes more about cardio and calorie burning.
You can adjust that regime according to how fit you are.
Features I liked on ProForm Treadmill:
- It’s a larger size. I don’t have any trouble fitting or running on it. It can handle up to 300 lbs per the specs.
- It’s got a few bells and whistles that I wasn’t expecting for the price like:
- A nice little shelf for a book if you’re reading,
- Several settings for speed and incline, and
- Speakers for your music, though I prefer headphones so I don’t get distracted.
- It seems sturdy, even when you’re running on it, so it doesn’t shake like crazy. But, if you have it on a hard surface, you’re going to want a mat under it.
The Interval Training Program on a Treadmill
What is the weight loss setting? Usually there are programmed to maintain a more consistent level of intensity.
If your treadmill is one that has a heart monitor, then likely it will use that to monitor your heart rate and will adjust itself to you so that it keeps you working out at a pace that keeps your heart rate at a consistent level.
This targeted heart rate is the fat burning zone where you will burn calories at a good healthy rate without over exerting your heart.
The amount of calories you will burn for either really depends on a lot of things, mainly, the higher the setting the more calories you will burn. Between the two, usually I’ve seen a little bit more calories burned indicated on the interval training setting.
Should you buy ProForm Treadmill
This machine is very stable, even when I’m not exactly the most graceful of people jogging on it. The water in my water bottle doesn’t even twitch. It’s not whisper quiet, but you can hear your music or the TV over it.
You can track your calorie intake and burn, with commonly eaten food calorie counts available right on the website and the option to input calories on a free form basis. There are spots to keep track of your measurements.
